You can drink matcha in several places in Kołobrzeg, from the roastery in the Old Town to the bicycle café by the amphitheatre. We gathered five addresses where it is properly made, with opening hours and what sets them apart. One of them only works in summer.
What matcha is
Matcha is green tea ground into a fine powder. Before harvest the leaves grow in the shade, which gives them more chlorophyll and a milder taste. It is not brewed like ordinary tea: the powder is whisked into water with a bamboo whisk, so you drink the whole leaf. You will most often meet it as matcha latte with milk, iced, or neat with water only.

Colbergcoffee: the widest choice
Colbergcoffee at Dubois 21A is a roastery and café with the widest choice of matcha drinks in town. The menu has premium and ceremonial grade matcha, lattes, iced versions and versions with extras. It holds 4.9 from over two thousand reviews and is open from 8:45, from 9:00 on Sunday, until 19:00, all year.
Colbergcoffee also supplies the matcha served at Neo Bistro and the Coffee Cart, so in those three places you drink the same matcha in different forms.

Jaremko Soli: matcha with breakfast
Jaremko Soli at Sienkiewicza 17D in the Radzikowo estate has high quality Japanese matcha on the menu, next to specialty filter coffee. It is the best address if matcha should come with breakfast: the kitchen starts at 8:00, at 9:00 on Sunday, all year. Rated 4.9 from nearly six hundred reviews.
Neo Bistro on Mariacka
Neo Bistro at Mariacka 20A stands a few dozen metres from the basilica. It serves matcha latte with a creamy foam, alongside lemonades made on site. The bistro holds 4.9 from over six hundred reviews. After the season it opens Friday to Sunday: on Friday and Saturday from 12:00 to 22:00, on Sunday until 21:00.
Słodki Domek nad Morzem
Słodki Domek nad Morzem at Jedności Narodowej 49 is a cottage in a historic park on the way to the west beach, with a garden under parasols. Matcha is on the menu next to coffee and homemade cakes. Rated 4.7 from over seven hundred reviews, open daily from 10:30 to 18:00.

Coffee Cart by the amphitheatre: summer only
The Coffee Cart is a bicycle café that stands by the amphitheatre on Fredry street. It serves matcha latte and iced matcha, exactly what you want on the way back from the beach. It only works in season, from June to August. Outside those months the nearest matcha is in the Old Town.
Matcha to take home
You can buy matcha in the Colbergcoffee roastery shop on Dubois street and on colbergcoffee.pl. They stock Matcha Bros matcha in several grades, traditional, essential and ceremonial, in packs from 50 to 250 g, plus the bamboo chasen whisk. Traditional matcha is enough for a latte; keep the ceremonial grade for drinking with water alone, which is when you taste the difference from cheaper grades.
