Rain at the seaside is a real challenge for parents with children. Kołobrzeg has a few places where kids can let off steam indoors, but good coffee is harder to find there. Here is where to go and how to combine playtime for the children with coffee for the adults.
Jaremko Soli: a play corner and specialty coffee
The easiest option is Jaremko Soli at Sienkiewicza 17D in the Radzikowo neighbourhood. It has a play corner, so the little ones are busy while the adults drink their coffee in peace. And the coffee here is genuinely good: specialty espresso and filter, plus Japanese matcha. Breakfast is served all year, and there is parking right by the door, which matters on a rainy day with kids.
Jaremko Soli is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 19:00, on Saturday from 8:00 to 21:00 and on Sunday from 9:00 to 19:00. It is rated ★ 4.9 from nearly six hundred reviews.
Świat Lodów by the promenade
Close to the promenade, at Szymańskiego 12, children will enjoy Świat Lodów (World of Ice Cream). It is a café and ice cream parlour where ice cream and desserts are the main attraction. Coffee is a side item here, so it is a good place for a treat after a walk rather than for demanding coffee drinkers.
Play centres: trampolines, ball pits and roller skates
When the kids need to burn off energy, these places built around movement work well:
- Skakun Park at 1 Maja 21: a trampoline park and play centre. On weekdays it opens in the afternoon, at weekends in the morning.
- The soft play with a ball pit at Milenium, that is Figlarnia at Łopuskiego 36/38.
- Wrotkowisko roller rink at 6 Dywizji Piechoty 27.
These are places to play, and coffee there is only an extra. It is better to play with the kids first and go for coffee afterwards, or the other way round: buy coffee before you set off and take it with you.
Coffee to go first, then play
You can pick up good coffee to go on the way at Colbergcoffee, Dubois 21A. It is easy to drive up to, so with kids in the car you do not have to park far from the door. Colbergcoffee is open all year, Monday to Saturday from 8:45 to 19:00 and on Sunday from 9:00 to 19:00. If the kids would rather start with play, you can also come for coffee and cake after the play centre.
Kołobrzeg is waiting for a family café
The play cafés that had good coffee and good cakes in Kołobrzeg have closed. Today there is no place in town that combines a play centre with a proper café, even though plenty of families with children come here all year. That is room for a new business. We are waiting for someone brave enough and hope it will serve coffee from a local roastery.
