Nearly eighty cafés in a town the size of Kołobrzeg sounds like a lot, until you start looking for one in a particular corner. They are spread very unevenly: two districts hold nearly thirty each, three others hold one apiece. Below is the practical breakdown, based on our catalogue and on guest ratings weighted by the number of reviews.
City centre and Old Town: the widest choice
Twenty-seven venues, a third of the open places in our database. This is where the roastery with its own roast stands, along with owner-run cafés, patisseries and places for people with food intolerances. The highest rated is Colbergcoffee on Dubois street, 4.9 from over two thousand reviews. The centre has one more advantage: this is where most things stay open out of season. Full list: cafés in the city centre.
Spa district: breakfast and a view
Also twenty-seven venues, but different in character. Closer to the beach, more seasonal spots, more breakfast. The highest rated is Café La Mer, 4.9 from over a thousand reviews, with a short menu and Turkish eggs. Both panoramic cafés are here too: the revolving one in the Arka hotel and Widokówka on the twelfth floor. See all venues in the spa district.
Port and lighthouse: nine addresses by the water
The smallest of the large districts, but a strong line-up. Here you will find OMNI KAISER Patisserie rated 4.8, with individual desserts and prices that are surprisingly reasonable for this level of craft, a doughnut shop with a queue outside, and a café on the pier itself. A natural stop on the walk towards the lighthouse: cafés by the port.
Radzikowo: where the locals eat
Eight open venues, away from the promenade and the tourist traffic. The highest rated is Jaremko Soli at 4.9, with breakfast all year and specialty coffee. The former leader of the district, Kruszonka, is temporarily closed. Next door there is an ice cream workshop with more than eight hundred reviews. If you want prices without the beachfront markup, this is the direction: cafés in Radzikowo.
Grzybowo and the west side: season and pines
Four open venues in Grzybowo, two more closed after the season, and one west of town, yet both addresses sit near the top of the ranking. PrawdziweKafe, among the pines a few minutes from the beach, has 4.8, artisan ice cream and hammocks. Słodki Domek nad Morzem is a cottage in a historic park with a garden under parasols and 4.7 from over seven hundred reviews. Both work mainly in season, so in winter check the hours first.
What stays open out of season
The vast majority of open venues, more than four in five, work seven days a week, which is not the same as working all year. From October some places along the promenade and in Grzybowo close until spring. The centre and the Old Town stay the most reliable. In the ranking you can switch on the filter for places open right now, and we keep a separate list of cafés open all year.
Searching by what you need
The district is one criterion, but usually not the most important one. With a dog you can enter a specific set of places, with a child it is worth aiming for cafés with a play corner, and anyone after coffee from a named bean should start with the specialty coffee addresses. Only five venues in town actually look out on the Baltic, and it is worth knowing which.
